Do you know a dog mom? You know, one of these moms.
Hi! My name is Kate, and I am that mom. No shame in my dog mom game. My dog Moose rules my world! What flexibility in my schedule exists is that I schedule around his eating and potty schedule. And obviously, I have thousands of pics on my cell phone of his scrumptious floofy face.
And I know I’m not the only dog mom out there. If you know a woman who’s returned from vacation with a treat/shirt for their dog, they might be a dog mom. If you’ve overheard a woman baby talking to their pup after giving them a pupacino, they might be a dog mom.
While no dog mom is singularly defined by their dog mom status, I’ve curated this gift guide with my fellow dog moms in mind. And this is no seasonal gift guide. You don’t need a reason to give someone a gift. In fact, surprise gifts are the literal best. But if need a reason to give a gift, might I suggest “gotcha” day (the fur baby’s adoption day), Love Your Pet Day (February 20), National Puppy Day (March 23), National Dog Day (August 26) or Make A Dog’s Day (October 22).
Gifts for Dog Moms
Custom Beaded Brooch or Ornament
I saw Joy from OhJoy share these on her stories during Christmas last season and I immediately saved it on Etsy so I could use it as a hint for my birthday. While I’m not a brooch gal, these are also offered as an ornament which I think I can easily turn into something that can be added to my gallery wall.
Custom Stain Glass Suncatcher
Elena creates gorgeous stained glass pieces (peep her Insta) and last year, created the buddy line. A portion of the proceeds from this line goes towards helping support stray animals. Check out her regular lineup of dog suncatchers and if she doesn’t have one that looks similar enough to your pup, she also creates custom pieces.
Custom Pet Portraits
If there’s a craft show happening, you’ll find me there. I first spotted Fuzzy Mug at a local show and then how does the saying go, once you see something, you’ll see it everywhere? Everywhere I looked, I would see someone carrying a Fuzzy Mug notebook or a tea towel in a shop. As a dog obsessed dog mom, obviously I needed a custom portrait of Moose. No shame in adding yet another portrait of my dog to my gallery wall.
Talking Only to My Dog Today Sweatshirt
Work from home life. Am I right? I am grateful that my day job doesn’t require every meeting to be via camera because I love a three-day hair bun and sweatshirt.
Divvy Up Socks with Pet Portrait
I love these socks. They are more of a novelty gift than actual wearable socks, but they are cute AF! Every time I open my sock drawer, I see little Moose’s face, and ahhh…so cute.
Custom Pet Portrait Cookie Cutter
Love to bake? How about baking cookies with a custom cookie cutter made to look identical to your dog? Buy this custom cookie cutter and bake cookies for your dog mom friend.
Personalized Dog Book: Where’s Your Dog?
Child of the 80’s here. One of my favorite books growing up was Where’s Waldo. Did anyone else love spending hours searching for Waldo? Now, you can create your own Waldo-esque book with your dog! All you’ll need is a good clear photo to upload to create a book in three days.
Single Origin Sumatra Coffee by Grounds & Hounds
My partner loves a good cup of dark roast coffee. With several different coffee blends, special holiday blends, and other merchandise, 20% of all profits generated by Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. are used to fund innovative and impactful rescue programs throughout the country. Learn more here.
Sydney Hale Candles
I fell in love with Sydney Hale candles at my favorite gift shop in Arlington, VA, Covet. The scent combinations are so unique, and the candles last forever – okay, approximately 50 hours, but that can feel like forever in candle-burning time. 10% of their profits are donated to organizations working to support animal rescue. Dog mom approved!
A Restful Retreat
In 2020, when so much travel was canceled, Moose and I got away to our local Getaway in Standardsville, VA. Close to nothing and far away from people, a stay in a Getaway cabin is just the restful retreat any dog mom would appreciate. Grab a gift card, pack the mom a basket with some meals and drinks, fill up her car, and give her a vacation she’ll enjoy.
Honorable Mention – Matching Sweatshirts
Sadly, it looks like Bow and Drape is no longer selling online, but on the off chance they return, hands down, this is my favorite twinning moment. Moose hates it, but like most fur kids, they hate purposeful embarrassment.
Moose would not cooperate to pose for a picture in our matching sweatshirts so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Suffice it to say that dog moms always ask me about it.
