While I like to consider myself a gifting expert, shopping for Moose’s dad has been a real struggle. How many golf shirts and cookbooks can one man be gifted? Moose and I had a conversation about what he’d like to gift his fur dad for Father’s Day, and boy, did he have suggestions. Apparently, they have great conversations during their daily walks and he knew exactly what his Dad wanted.
So, in the same vein as gifts for dog Moms, celebrate the dog Dads in your life with gifts from their pups. Be it Father’s Day or National Dog Dad Day (or just any old random day because gifting doesn’t require a “holiday”), consider surprising the dog Dad in your life with gifts personally selected by their fur child. I present Moose’s suggestions, as he described them (please laugh), as gifts that any dog Dad would love.
Gifts for Dog Dads
Every Gift Needs a Card
No gift is complete without a heartfelt card; I only wish I could sign my cards. Mom and Dad prefer to give cards that make each other laugh, and boy, do they search high and low for the punniest cards. If your Dad has a sense of humor, I recommend these two card options as they tickle funny bones. Mom found this card by Finch & Hare for this past National Dog Dad Day, and Dad definitely rolled his eyes before smirking – he thought it was cute. Mission accomplished!
Magazine Cover Wall Art
Mom and Dad always buy art for their gallery wall, and I’m told they love having photos of me made into art. Guilty Paws reached out to my Mom to collaborate on a piece of art, and while Mom had a hard time choosing a photo of me to submit (she has thousands to choose from), Mom submitted the picture Dad took of me chilling in my stroller. Those magicians turned it into canvas art that makes me a cover model! Dude, I look famous!
Any dog Dad would love a piece of art starring their fur child. While I do love some food, I am guilty of being the cutest little thing, and in my youth, I was quite the underwear thief.
Luggage Tag for Dog Dads that Travel
My Mom and Dad like to travel, and since I’m too old to tag along now, I get to “tag” along by being attached to their luggage. Dad has multiple bag tags because, I guess, even his carry-on unexpectedly got checked due to full overhead bin space. Every luggage tag is a masterpiece, lovingly hand-painted with your fur baby’s portrait on premium vegetable-tanned leather. It’s more than just a tag—it’s a tribute to your pet’s unique charm.
Fur Child Organization
This is not my bottom, but it’s cute, I guess. Dad likes to give these to his friends that adopt puppers because, apparently, new dog parents don’t realize how much stuff comes with having a fur child. I’ve overheard Dad say it helps him find my harness and leash in the middle of the night without turning on a light. I guess that’s helpful.
Morning Coffee & Evening Drinks
I’m old, and my morning schedule has shifted to very early morning hours. Gotta do my business and take my meds while Dad brews his first cup of coffee. Doesn’t take long to brew the coffee, but I’ve already fallen back asleep on the couch in that span of time.
My morning meds make me very thirsty, which means I need to be able to find water throughout the house. And what can I say? I like to drink from cups and not my bowl, so obviously, I wanted a glass with my face on it. I mean, if the human kids get cups with their names, I should, too, right? Dad likes this glass, too, because it’s perfect for an evening drink.
Dog Dad and Fur Child Matching Outfits
Is it weird to coordinate outfits with my Dad? Mom says it’s not weird at all; rather, it’s cute as hell! I totally agree! With kid sizes available for the human kiddos, the whole family can coordinate holiday photos with just one purchase. Good Thomas offers a variety of coordinating tops including pajamas, sweaters, t-shirts, and even sweatshirts. Two percent of every purchase is donated to a designated non-profit animal rescue partner as chosen by customers.
Gifts for the Golfing Dads
I’m unsure how I feel about my face being on golf balls. My Mom was highly skeptical that this was a great idea, but my Dad says he approves. I heard him tell Mom that it would help him find his ball. I guess he’s not as good a golfer as I hear him say he is. But that’s okay because I still love him.
Dog Dad and Fur Child Backpack
My neighborhood has yappy hours where all the hoomans and pups get to mingle and drink. And what can I say? I love all the scritches from the hoomans, but I can pass on all their fur children. Stop sniffing me, damn, can I get a little privacy! Thankfully, my Mom and Dad bought a K9 Sport Sack several years ago, and it’s so helpful! I chill out and soak up all the attention, and Mom and Dad enjoy their yappy hour. I can’t tell you which version of the sport sack I get to hang out in since I’ve owned it since 2018, but Dad says there are several varieties. From the tiniest pup to the largest and in various colors, don’t forget to customize a name patch so the hoomans can say hi!
Gift for the Science Loving Dog Dads
When I was adopted, they told my parents they thought I was a mix of Maltese and poodle. And for all my life, they’ve introduced me as a malti-poo, and people always say, “Oh, I would have guessed you were part terrier.” And after more than 15 years and my diagnosis of a heart condition, Mom and Dad agreed it was time to learn more about me. Just one annoying swab of my mouth followed by my identity crisis; people were right; I was part terrier all along. Embark’s DNA and health test says I’m a part small poodle, a miniature pinscher, and a West Highland white terrier. Who am I?!
So, Dad’s. You know you want to know more. Don’t wait until your pup is 15 to find out.
