Ever planned a long weekend trip because of an Instagram ad? I hadn’t either until an IG ad for Saint Kate – An Arts Hotel in Milwaukee, WI popped up in my Instagram feed. All the searching for colorful hotels on IG finally paid off; the algorithm is finally “getting” me. I’ll be sharing more about my stay shortly; I loved this colorful find.

I love a good book! And when I find one locally in a free little library or one arrives at my book from my preferred online book store, Bookshop.org, I delight when the book spines are colorful. I don’t hate when a book is black or gray or white and it’s certainly not intentional, but my smile is bigger when a new book is just as colorful on the inside as it is on the outside. Here are my latest reads:
Colorful Tote That’s Also A Backpack
I try to walk to stores when I only need to grab one or two things. And unless I need a plastic bag for my trash can, I try to remember to bring a bag to save the 5-cent bag tax. Pretty sure it was an Instagram ad that introduced me to Notabag. Another Instagram ad win!
This portable and functional tote converts to a backpack. I love its versatility, but mainly that it comes in so many colors! See all the colors of this colorful find here.
New Coffee Shop in Arlington, VA
One weekend, I needed lightbulbs and ran to Home Depot. Getting frustrated that amongst all the options, I couldn’t find what I had previously bought there, I decided only coffee could fix my annoyance. I Googled coffee near me to see if there was a place I hadn’t been to before, and I found La Coop Coffee. Having only opened a few days earlier, I was excited to try a new place.
I ordered my typical iced latte and my partner chose the Dirty Horchata, a horchata with a shot of espresso. Yes, please! We’ll definitely be back.
Life Update
Or should I say pupdate? If you saw my last post, you know that I lost my beloved soul dog, Moose, last October. Thanksgiving was brutal. Every minute of the day, I kept thinking about Moose; eating breakfast, he would have been at my feet begging for my berries; the warm sunshine in the afternoon before dinner, Moose and I would have enjoyed a long walk. It was a rough day. So many tears.
Not in an effort to make Christmas “better”, just less teary, but I got the Animal Welfare League of Arlington email about their annual Home for the Holidays event and I knew this was our year. Moose was pretty anti other dogs in his space in his later years so we hadn’t been able to participate in the past.
We arrived on the first pickup day and met three dogs. “Little white dog” had been brought in as a stray just that day. Fate some would say.
Having never fostered before, it was an experience. It was so emotional (probably an early indicator that we were failing) meeting so many people and having them say no. Look at that face!
Well 60 days later, little white dog was named Lo Lo and we joined the infamous foster-fail group. Happy days ahead!
