It’s back-to-school shopping season! why should kids have all the fun?
Adults may no longer need to shop for twin extra-long sheets and shower caddies are a thing of your past, but in true colorful minimalist fashion, I’ve curated a colorful school supplies list for freshening up your home office.
You may not be in school anymore, but class is in session! Take note.
I want to be the person who can expertly colorize my keyboard with a rainbow keyboard skin, but let’s get real, I’d have to hire a TaskRabbit to not totally f*ck this up. But maybe the key is to buy three so I can try multiple times. Skilled in internet research, but not sticky tech stuff.
There is no truer school supply than pens and pencils and you can never own too many! especially these pencils; everyone that “borrows” one will never return it. And really, can you blame them? Meetings that should have been emails are made less painful with these pencils. Gotta take notes; at the very least, you’ll finish your grocery list.
Tell me you’ve never locked yourself out of your home (office). No really, make me feel better about running to grab my Uber Eats order from the front door and returning to realize my apartment door was locked. Is it just me? Fine, whatever. this colorful acrylic keychain by JillMakes makes it easier for my BFF to rescue me because she can easily find my spare keys and come to my rescue.
With many companies making the switch to hybrid workspaces, being on camera is here to stay. I always need a dose of good luck when conducting training or participating in small group sessions. Wrapped in colorful yarn, this horseshoe will bring luck (and a smile) when hung near your desk. Perhaps untraditional in the school supply category, but colorful art in your workspace is always a great idea. And don’t most Mondays require a dose of good luck?
You can always tell where I’ve forgotten my iced latte by the several condensation rings around my house. Save the furniture! And buy colorful coasters. Be it your office desk, your side table, or your coffee table, these coasters will be talked about. I implore you, ney BEG you, to click this link to watch the video of these coasters. They are so blingy, you won’t believe your eyes. But sorry, you can’t have this set because I already bought it.
My favorite thing to do with a to-do list is cross things off! Surely my fellow list obsessed can relate. This notepad fits snugly next to my keyboard saving me from searching through my cabinet drawers to find where I stashed my post-it notes.
Second to pens and pencils, there are no more colorful school supplies than notebooks. We get to ditch the college rule paper and composition notebooks for glossy covers with gold foil and witty sayings. Save me from myself because I’ll die with a box of beautiful empty notebooks that I’ll have to leave to my dog. The notebooks I love the most? The pretty colored ones that I can personalize. Other colorful options are available from WTF Notebooks and Meriwether.
Every workspace needs a calendar. Be it a paper planner with spaces to keep track of girlfriend getaways or one to keep track of hourly appointments, I offer a non-traditional option. My favorite calendars are from Smudge Ink and I’ve bought one almost every year for the last decade. One year I thought I’d scrapbook my own mini calendar, but I’m fairly positive it’s still taped shut in a desk drawer. Best intentions I tell you.
Term papers may be the bane of your existence in school, but writing doesn’t end when you graduate. Papers become reports and correspondence letters, and spreadsheets become your worst enemy. If you’ve ever had to pull a late night, you might have worked from your sofa or the bed. Not the most comfortable place to work, but this laptop desk will make it easier. Portable and easy to stow under a bed or sofa.
Whether it’s a home office or a cubicle, your space should make you happy. Make the places you spend the most time happy places by adding in little pops of color. And Mondays always need more happy!
